John Donnellon Obituary

February 6, 2025 / Parker Toastmasters / Blog

It is with great sadness that we announce that one of our past members of our club, John Donnellon, has recently passed away.

Colonel Donnellon served his country with honor in the Navy and Air Force, and he was an exemplary Distinguished Toastmaster. John earned two Distinguished Toastmaster awards and he was the most active member of our club for the time he spent at Parker Toastmasters during 2017-2019.

John will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Friday February 7, 2025 at 10am.

John’s incredible life is encapsulated in his very detailed obituary in the link below. The page also has a Guestbook where you can add a picture or write a nice something about your memories of John if you wish.

Growth and Gains

March 15, 2023 / Brian Fahey / Blog

We have had a serious amount of gains and growth over the past year so far! This year:

  • One member advanced to the Denver competition for the International Speech Contest
  • We have 20 members, after starting with 10
  • We acquired 12 new members
  • We saw 2 people complete their first level, and six complete the most distinguished levels.
  • Eight people made their first speech in toastmasters with a successful icebreaker.

And there are still three more months left in our year!

Parker Toastmasters September 2022!

September 18, 2022 / Brian Fahey / Blog

Good day everyone! This month has been exciting for the club! First of all, congratulations to David, our newest member for his ice breaker! Not only ius this the first speech one gives, but it is also the hardest speech! Congratulations on mastering this task!

We also had three toastmasters this month who focused on “FOCUS!” “History,” and “Who Are You?” Next week will be Jodi, our Club Secretary (whose job it is to record our meetings.) We will see you then!

Point of Confidence: Did you know, according to Psychology Today (2017), that more people are afraid of public speaking than death? The reasons they cite is because of our thoughts on ourselves as speakers, our physiology, and our own skills. Do you know what is one of the best ways to build confidence in ourselves – you guessed it, public speaking!

2022-2023 Parker Toastmasters!

August 13, 2022 / Brian Fahey / Blog

Welcome to the new year for Parker Toastmasters! Our mission for the upcoming year is to build confidence among all members and guests through public speaking. We are a casual, friendly group that meets at the Parker Library each Thursday from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

This last meeting we had a visit from our Area Director, who helped us explore what we could do with Pathways, the system Toastmasters uses to develop their speeches.

Our Toastmaster for next week is Bill Morgan, and we have three speakers signed up! We look forward to seeing you all then!
